Follow US 101 south from Astoria through Cannon Beach, Newport, Florence and Bandon to Brookings and the Samuel H. Boardman corridor. Public visits take in estuaries, headlands, heritage sites, dunes and signed coastal stops. Recheck surf, tides, landslides, fire and park access before visiting. Aquariums, boat trips, dune vehicles and other operator activities need separate planning.

When to go

Best months: June, July, August, September

Stay at confirmed-open signed overlooks, promenades and short public paths. Large unexpected waves, moving logs, unstable cliffs, cold water and rapidly rising tides are real hazards; remain behind barriers and above the surf and substitute a safe inland public stop when conditions are poor.
