Seattle to the mountains and back: cross Stevens Pass to Leavenworth, continue through the Methow Valley and Winthrop, then follow SR 20 past Washington Pass, Diablo Lake and the Skagit gorge before closing the loop on Puget Sound. The road itself is the thread; short roadside walks and viewpoints keep the parks leg useful without turning it into an expedition.

North Cascade Loop is a 710 km loop (self-drive). It works best as 4–6 days; the plan below is the 5-day version for July, built from 591 verified places, with real road-routed transit times, opening hours and daylight checked.

When to go

Best months: June, July, August, September

The full loop is generated only after you confirm that SR 20 is open through Washington and Rainy passes. Opening dates vary, and a June calendar label is not proof that the road or a trail is usable.
