- Confirm the road vehicle, overnight stops and current Seward Highway conditions
Confirm an insured vehicle for the Anchorage-to-Homer one-way journey, the Girdwood, Seward and Homer overnight plan, fuel range, and current Alaska 511 incidents, construction, avalanche or weather restrictions on the Seward and Sterling highways. Leave recovery time rather than treating the published drive allowance as a promise.

Check the dated National Park Service status for automobile access on Herman Leirer (Exit Glacier) Road, parking limits, closures and the Exit Glacier trails. The default plan uses the shorter Exit Glacier area; the strenuous Harding Icefield Trail remains a separate opt-in and can retain snow and avalanche risk into early July.

Check the current Kenai Fjords National Park Visitor Center hours and reserve an Alaska SeaLife Center entry time when availability requires it. The public Waterfront Trail remains the outdoor link between them; substitute a shorter harbour walk if weather or mobility makes the full circuit unsuitable.
