This reviewed east-coast drive is offered in the cooler October–April window. It still requires live highway, earthquake-repair, rain and wind checks; Taroko is a separate conditional excursion, not a promised open gorge.
Light days: day 1, day 2, day 4, day 5, day 7 have one stop and time left over. Local tours and day trips are the way to fill them — each day links to what is bookable in its own town.
Use Longshan Temple and a bounded old-city public-space circuit. Confirm any paid interior separately and keep the east-coast departure plan practical.
