South Gobi: Gobi Gurvansaikhan Circuit: 5-Day Plan You Can Actually Do
Last updated:
The 5-day version for July: every day fits real transit, opening hours and daylight.
💡 Good to know for this plan
- ~15.2 hours of daylight in July.
- Day 1 is deliberately light: the Dalanzadgad museum and time to settle in before the desert circuit. Arrange your travel to Dalanzadgad separately, then confirm the driver, camps and current road conditions for the following four days.
- Light day: day 1 has one stop and time left over. Local tours and day trips are the way to fill it — each day links to what is bookable in its own town.

Some route advice is currently available in English.
- A rocky climb at Khavtsgait
The rock art is on a hillside beyond the mapped vehicle track. The visit includes a careful climb and descent, so wear sturdy shoes and discuss the approach with your driver. The parking location and exact walking time are not surveyed.
Check source ↗ - Book the camp before travelling
This version ends Day 4 at Gobi Tour camp near Bayanzag. Rooms and gers are offered individually; availability, meals and your arrival arrangements must be confirmed for your dates. Earlier nights also need separately confirmed stays.
Check source ↗ - Ask your operator to check park and Bayanzag access, tracks and weather before departure
This five-day version follows the park’s Yol/Dungenee and Khongor corridor, then adds the separately sourced Bayanzag visitor stop and camp before Khavtsgait. It does not promise the unlocated monastery visit or the separate 1,173-kilometre sub-route. The driver must confirm the current tracks and site access before departure.
