Confirm a suitable insured car, Kota Kinabalu pickup, Sandakan return or onward custody, fuel, parking and stays. Recheck Malaysian weather and road conditions before each leg; heavy rain and landslides can interrupt East Malaysia roads.

Confirm Kinabalu Park trails and botanical-garden access plus Sepilok opening windows and fees. Sepilok is about 40 minutes and 23 kilometres from central Sandakan. Feeding times are not a sighting guarantee, and visitors must never touch wildlife.
