A road-and-boat journey from San José to car-free Tortuguero, with the Sea Turtle Conservancy visitor centre and a short Cuatro Esquinas land-trail visit, then south to Cahuita’s coastal path, Punta Uva’s shore and the Manzanillo viewpoint. When to go

Best months: February, March, April

February–April and September–October often bring drier spells to the Caribbean coast. This itinerary keeps Cahuita to a land-based coastal walk; snorkelling requires a separately arranged boat and suitable sea conditions.
