- Check Five Finger Rapids trail and bear-safety conditions
The official day-use site has a 1.4-kilometre return trail and a long staircase to the lower viewpoint. Use the highway platform instead when the stairs, weather, smoke, mobility or current wildlife advice make the descent unsuitable, and carry bear spray if taking the trail.

Confirm an insured vehicle, Whitehorse, Carmacks and Dawson accommodation, fuel range and current 511 Yukon, wildfire, smoke and emergency advice for the 525-kilometre road. The baseline reaches Dawson from the east and does not require the George Black Ferry; any optional west-bank or Top of the World extension needs its own ferry and road check.
