The Icefields Parkway is often called the most beautiful drive in the world, and it earns it. Turquoise lakes sit beneath glacier tongues, bears graze along the road's edge, and the Columbia Icefield comes close enough to walk on. It's only 290 kilometres, but you'll want to take it slowly.

Best months: May, June, July, August, September
The core Lake Louise-to-Jasper drive remains available, but Mistaya Canyon and the Glacier Gallery are omitted in October through April, and Jasper SkyTram is omitted from November through March. Winter tires are mandatory in winter; check Highway 93N conditions and closures before setting out.
