- Check RN 40 and every return road immediately before travel.
Use the official live route status for snow, ice, mud, rockfall, works and restrictions. The July 2026 Seven Lakes closure shows why a paved road still needs a same-day check and a safe stop or reroute plan.

Confirm signed public viewpoints, beaches and roads, plus current park fees or fire restrictions. Boats, skiing, kayaking, remote hikes, refugios and off-corridor roads are not included.
