Best Time for Arkansas Ozarks: Bentonville to Buffalo National River

Last updated: 2026-09-23

Preferred months for this journey: April, May, June. Check the seasonal notes before choosing your dates.

Float season on America's first national river — spring water levels carry canoes past 150-metre bluffs — with dogwood and redbud lighting the hollows.
Ozark hardwood color peaks and the elk bugle in Boxley Valley at dawn — the river drops too low to float but the overlooks compensate.
