- Dry-season public-road product. US 1 is the only continuous road through the Keys; storms, bridge inspections, evacuation orders, crashes and park capacity remain live checks.

- Check Monroe County storm, evacuation and re-entry instructions for the whole travel window.
Visitors must leave when officials order an evacuation and may return only when authorised. After a storm, every US 1 bridge is inspected before re-entry; move the trip rather than treating a closure as a minor delay.

Florida state parks can close for tropical weather or capacity. John Pennekamp has 2026 construction limits and Bahia Honda can temporarily close day use at capacity. Reef boats, diving, snorkelling, fishing, paddling and other provider activities are not part of the baseline.

Check FL511 before every transfer for US 1 crashes, bridge restrictions, construction, flooding and closures. The Florida Keys have one continuous road corridor, so no ordinary parallel detour is assumed.
