Leave Cape Town for Hermanus's cliff paths, continue through the Garden Route's coastal towns, and finish where forest meets the sea at Storms River. The one-way drive links maritime history, woodland walks and national-park coast. Watch for whales from shore in season, with any sighting a bonus; boat trips and other guided activities are separate choices.

Hermanus commonly has southern right whales offshore in these months, but use the coast path as the guaranteed visit and treat every sighting as a bonus.
