Begin among Old San Juan’s streets and forts, visit El Yunque’s rainforest gateway, then follow the island through Fajardo, Ponce and Rincón before returning to the capital. Historic centres, green hills and the west-coast lighthouse give each stretch its own character. Boat tours, surfing and bioluminescent bays are separate outings to plan.
