Spend two full days in Funchal before travelling by road to Câmara de Lobos’ fishing heritage, Santana’s public traditional houses and Machico’s discovery-era centre. Arrange flights or ferries separately, and allow for changing road and weather conditions. Levadas, mountain trails, cable cars, toboggans and sea activities are optional extras to plan separately.
