Ponta Delgada historic-centre orientation
Begin at the eighteenth-century City Gates and walk a bounded public circuit through the historic centre and waterfront streets. Treat museums, churches and the fort as optional interiors whose current weekday access must be confirmed.

Vista do Rei–Sete Cidades official trail
Follow the signed 7.5 km route from Vista do Rei down the crater slope to Sete Cidades and São Nicolau church only when its live alert is clear. Allow more than the published two hours, take care on the steep slippery section and use the prearranged return to the car.

Ribeira Grande heritage and public coast circuit
Walk Ribeira Grande’s public centre and coast, adding the Emigration Museum or municipal collection only when its current hours fit. Keep surf lessons, thermal appointments and private operators outside the default town circuit.

Lagoa das Furnas official circular trail
Follow the signed 9.4 km circular route from the village through the Furnas valley and around the lake, including its public geothermal landscape and interpretation points. Allow more than the published three hours and obey every live trail, road and ticket condition.

Vila Franca heritage and Ponta Delgada return circuit
Stop in Vila Franca do Campo for a public heritage circuit and, when open, its archaeology and ethnography museum or the public convent garden, then complete the road return to Ponta Delgada. The islet and every boat activity remain separate bookings.
Longer daylight gives the best margin for the two official walking routes, but cloud, rain, wind and route-specific closures still require a live check and resequencing.
