Drive from Bergen through Voss and Flåm, follow the same car north through the Sognefjord road-and-ferry network to Stryn, cross Geirangerfjord from Hellesylt with the car aboard, then continue by the Eidsdal–Linge ferry to art-nouveau Ålesund. The fjord crossings, waterfalls and road viewpoints are the journey; the passenger-only Bergen–Flåm express boat is not used as a car ferry.
