Travel by JR Chuo trains and local buses from Nagoya into the Kiso Valley, then walk the 7.5 km preserved Nakasendo between Magome and Tsumago. Continue by train to kilometre-long Narai before finishing at Matsumoto Castle. The trail takes roughly three hours and needs suitable weather, footwear and a live condition check; luggage forwarding is separate and must be confirmed.

The Nakasendo Way is a 185 km one-way journey (rail). It works best as a 4-day trip; the plan below is the 4-day version for May, built from 145 verified places, with planned transit times, opening hours and daylight checked.
