Best Time for Sofia, Rila & Plovdiv

Last updated: 2026-09-13

Preferred months for this journey: June, July, August, September. Check the seasonal notes before choosing your dates.

This version includes a full Seven Rila Lakes walking day. Confirm the chairlift timetable, current Rila National Park conditions and the mountain forecast before departure; lift maintenance or severe weather may require changing the day.
This route is not generated in these months because its defining Seven Rila Lakes circuit becomes a winter or shoulder-season mountain undertaking and the chairlift can close for maintenance. Choose June–September for the standard hiking journey, or plan a separate monastery-and-cities trip without the lake promise.
