- Drier months generally make the long road stages and Pantanal access easier and Bonito water clearer. Fire, smoke, low water and wildlife movement still vary, so current road, lodge and operator advice controls the trip.

- Check the current Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul road network and every long-stage condition.
Recheck works, closures, flooding, fire, smoke and the exact lodge access road before departure and each travel day. The Dourados–Pantanal stage is about six hours before stops; split or change it if fatigue, weather or road advice makes it unsafe.
